Born 1941 Salem Germany, died 2021. Studied Basel School of Design. Taught at Basel from 1968 — initially Swiss Style purist, then radically broke with the rigid grid in 1970s, pioneering 'Swiss Punk' / 'New Wave' typography (chaotic mixed type, photographic typography, deliberate disruption). Influenced April Greiman, Dan Friedman, and a whole generation of postmodern designers. Bridge between Swiss modernism and 1980s deconstruction.
