Born 1977 in Concord,New Hampshire. Graduated from Carnegie Mellon's Communication Design program. First worked at MetaDesign Berlin developing typefaces for Volkswagen,then joined Font Bureau alongside Tobias Frere-Jones before going independent in 2001. Co-founded Commercial Type with London designer Paul Barnes in 2007. Designed Neutraface (2002),Graphik (2009) and the definitive Neue Haas Grotesk revival (2010). Collaborated with Erik Spiekermann on Bosch and Deutsche Bahn type.
